The treatment of severe hip arthritis is hip replacement. During the replacement we change the worn out surfaces of the hip joint allowing the joint to move without causing pain.
After fully recovering, patients with hip replacement can do activities such as walk,swim, cycle, play doubles tennis, go cross country skiing and do other similar non-impact activities. Full recovery usualy takes 3 months.
The purpose of a hip replacement is to relieve pain and restore function so people can return to their normal daily lives without pain and disability.
